mii-gamer writes: I have been an avid Nintendo fan since the days of the 64, so I have played almost every Nintendo franchise. But there has been one series I have been avoiding like the plague and that series is fire Emblem. The brutal difficulty and complexity of the series has always frightened me. The concept permanent death sends shivers down my spine. Ashamedly, I have to admit that I am still a Fire Emblem virgin, maybe I should reword that. I was a Fire Emblem Virgin. Not anymore. Head held up high. Smile on my face. Yes! I lost my Fire Emblem virginity. I completed Fire Emblem Awakening. And by golly it was amazing.

"No doubt. Truth be told, [series] sales are dropping," said Yamagami. "The sales manager of Nintendo, Mr. Hatano, told us that this could be the last Fire Emblem. "I remember when I came back from the meeting," continued Yamagami, "and told the team 'my God, what are we gonna do?! The end has come!' Our reaction was clear: if this was going to be the last Fire Emblem, we had to put [in] everything we always wanted to include."

Nintendo has mastered almost every game genre

mii-gamer writes: I had a random thought popped into my head while playing Fire Emblem Awakening. Not sure how the thought came into my head but it got me fascinated. So I decided to do a little snooping and my findings were interesting to say the least. What was that thought? Has Nintendo mastered all the game genres? The answer? No, they have not mastered every game genre. But they are darn close to it. Nintendo has got a reputation of relying on the same IPs (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon). It is true to a certain extent but Nintendo has an impressive spread of games over many genres. Most impressive is the spread of quality games over many genres.

Go Critic: When you think of games that are synonymous with the strategy RPG, there are a few titles that might come to mind depending on when you got into the genre. Shining Force is often credited with bringing the genre to North America, with interest that surged with the release of Final Fantasy Tactics. But it wasnt until the original Disgaea: Hour of Darkness before the floodgates truly opened and it was no longer unusual to see things like Fire Emblem or Phantom Brave on store shelves.
